Falling In Love In New York City

This Post is a little on the sappy side, you've been warned!!!

About a year ago, I went to New York City with the UVSC Art Department for their annual trip. It was AMAZING! I went everywhere and meet tons of artists. It was beautiful. A artist dream trip to New York. I found two of the best places to eat! The Cafeteria and a pizza place right under the Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn. (Seriously the best pizza place!) My friend, Trent, and I found it right before we walked the Brooklyn Bridge. That night was one of the best non romantic nights of my life! But my store is not about that it's about how I fell in love with Dan in New York.

Lets travel back in time to early 2008.

At this time Dan was living in Washington D.C. doing his thing and I was living in Provo, Utah with my girls. I went and visited him during the Christmas holidays because one of the girls was getting married out there. After the visit we had been emailing each other everyday and talking on the phone once in a while. We were gradually getting more intense feeling for each other. During our emailing and phone chats, Dan decided that he should come up to New York to visit. We have a dear friend living there going to foot school. It was a perfect place for him to stay.

I arrived in New York Friday night. It was pouring down rain and I called our friend, Al, telling him that i just got in and to meet me at my hotel, The Wellington, in about an hour. Dan's bus was going to be coming in about three hours after that. Al and I walked the streets got something to eat and chatted it up waiting for Dan. I remember when he called me. I was so nervous. Butterflies in full effect now! We were going to be meeting him just out side Penn Station. Penn Station is also right by Madison Square Gardens and there was a Knicks game that night. It was crazy busy. The bus was running a little behind because
A) It's a bus
B) In New York City and
C) It was raining cats and dogs.

Dan didn't arrive until about 11:30ish when he was scheduled to come about 10. Al and I waited a long time there. The bus driver got so fed up with the traffic that he decided to unload the bus about a half a block away from where it was suppose to drop them off. Al and I were off to find Dan. I remember it so clearly too. I was on the phone talking to him, trying to find him, when i spotted him. I had to stop. I was so scared. This visit could either make or break our relationship. I wanted it to work so badly too. He was so adorable looking around trying to stay dry with a huge piece of luggage. :) Then he spotted me and his face just started beaming, I'm pretty sure my was too. I was so gross looking. I had been on a plane, a packed taxi ride in to town and had walked the streets of New York in the rain. I'm surprise he didn't get right back on that bus. We barely even said anything to each other. Thank goodness Al was there. He definitely helped the situation. I know you know what I was going through. We all have, that first date, talking to your crush..... etc... It's hard! Dan had not eaten all day. The only thing still open was McDonald's. We went in, he got something and I remember Al had to leave us for a minute and Dan and I were left alone. Not much was said but he did grab my hand. My butterflies were going nuts :) Al and Dan still had over and hour subway ride back to Al's place up in Queens. We took the subway up to my hotel. We chatted a little more in the lobby then Al said his goodbyes and left Dan and I alone. Once Al was gone, Dan grabbed me and laid one of the best kisses of my life, on me! After we said goodbye, I got in the elevator and once those doors closed I was doing a little jig!! I was smiling so big! My roomy, Aubrey, just laughed at me when i got back.

He was only there for the weekend. Dan left Monday morning to go back to DC. I had to do my Art stuff during the day so we meet up after I was done with that. Dan, Al and I went to the play Chicago Sunday nigh. I love the Movie, I love Bob Fosse (he's dead, but he's the original choreographer for the show) so it was a perfect match to see while in New York. Al was a little on the odd side, even Dan noticed. After the play was over Al didn't even say goodbye he just took off at basically a sprint when we got out of the theater. So Dan and I were left alone again, but by now we were not so nervous. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) Seriously, starting a new exciting relationship and doing it in New York City, is fantastic. Yeah....i know your jealous! After the show we meet up with one of his friends that came up to New York as well, Sam. He's a old High School friend of Dan's. When they dropped me off, finally at about 1 in the morning, we tried to talk about what was going on with us. We decided at that point that we were casually dating each other. But once he got home to DC that thought was out the window and he wanted to date seriously. About a week after New York, Dan decided to move back to Provo and see if this relationship could really go some where. He moved back April 20th and we were engaged by July 26th. :)

That is my story of when i fell in love in New York City. :)

Bored At Work, But LOVING Michael!!!

Since I'm bored at work I thought that I would pass the time by blogging.
(i can't believe that blogging has become a adjective)

Don't laugh but.....I've kinda gotten into American Idol this season. It's because of Danny-(Downey Jr.). He's awesome and I'm kinda in love with the guy. It's cool, i think Dan might have a man crush on him. Anyways, This week the contestants sang tribute to good ole Michael Jackson. If you know me, you know how much i love the mans music. (Best Super Bowl half time show EVER!!!!) This weeks American Idol has revived my love and am now again obsessing about him. Dan thought i was crazy, I knew every lyric to every song sang. Michael's performing in London for the next year and a bit. I'm wondering how I can convince Dan that i need to go to London. Hmmmm.....I shall be creative. Anywho, I remembered this video and wanted to share it with ya'll. I'm sure you've seen it, but it's funny.

Seriously, who doesn't love the old ugly man dressed as a woman?! Ahahhaha :)

Trains....who needs them!

I finally got to blame my lateness on something other then Me! Yesterday morning when i was driving to work, I got stuck waiting for a train for about 25 mins. It was really funny. If i had just left one min earlier i would have missed the stupid train. I was about the fourth car in line, while about 30 others were behind me. Who operates a train during the morning rush? Union Pacific, that's who. And how come their driver was retarded? He was going at a good speed, when all of a sudden he starts to slow down. It takes the guy about 5 mins to stop the train completely then about another 5 mins of waiting for it to go again. Instead of it going forward it started to go backwards. It finally cleared the area about 10 mins after that. I was 15 mins late to work. Once those gates were open it was every man for himself. Everyone was speeding after that. The whole west side of the Valley had to have been late to work. The tracks run right through it.

My supervisor, Susan, also got stuck behind the same train. She lives in the West part of the Valley too. But what's really funny..... on Susan's way back to work from lunch, Susan got stuck behind another train. I had just missed it. Hahahah When she came in and she told me, I was in hysterics. I could not stop laughing. The reason for my hysterics is, Susan and I joked about getting stuck behind one at lunch. I know lame office humor, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do to keep it interesting.

Love ya

A Month In Review

So February has come and it has gone. I just wanted to update you on what has happened in the last month of Dan and I's life.

On Monday Feb. 2nd I started my new job at PSRBB, an architectural firm. I love working here. It's easy and a great job to make that transition from school to work. The people here are awesome too. I can't pronounce most of the Hispanic names and I've gotten made fun of a few times because of my lack of talent in the Hispanic language. I seriously butcher the names. I'm a white girl from Utah come on! Tommy, the President of company, reminds me so much of my Dad. It's really great. Susan my supervisors is really loud and is kinda like me. I love that too!

Friday the 6th through Saturday the 7th, Dan and I, with his parents, went up to Albuquerque to do a session in the Temple. It's about a four hour drive. It was a good trip but i was very very excited to get home. I'm still getting used to my In-Laws. I love them, but it was a very LONG two days. We actually have a temple close to us here in El Paso, it's about 30 mins away in Mexico, but the Border Control has asked Americans not to go over. It's getting to dangerous. In the 1st two month of the year the city has seen over 400 murders!!!! 400!!! What?!!! So, yeah, I'm not going over there.

Valentines Day! It was a good one. My 1st with a significant other. Usually my history was either I'd hook up with someone a few weeks after Valentines or have broken up with someone a few weeks before. Dan surprised me a few day early. Usually i have lunch by myself on Thursdays, cause Dan has Institute. I got home and the lights were off and on our little bar between the Kitchen and the Front Room, there was a cute little teddy bear with a box of chocolates and a balloon saying "I love you". It was cute. But while i was looking at my gift Dan just had to jump out of our bedroom yelling. I screamed so loud. I scare easy. I got him a car ornament that almost all cars have here, a chrome miners pick that you put on the back of your car. UTEP are the Miners. He's wanted one for a while.

Saturday the 22nd we went and canned at the Bishops Storehouse. I've never canned before I was really excited to do it. Dan's mom, Diane, purchased some food storage from the ward and to get it you needed to can it. She forgot that her cousin, Nancy, was coming into town and asked if Dan and I could go and can what she got. It wasn't much it was like 12 cans all together. We were there for about 45 mins. They practically kicked us out of the place because so many families from the Ward volunteered to help. It was amazing to see all the service people wanted to do.

Since Friday the 21th Dan has been really sick. He just got over the worst of it this last weekend and it's been lingering since. My poor husband. He's been miserable.

I've already blogged it but the Young Ambassadors were in town. That was fun.

We've also have had a hay day trying to get my car registered here!!! Stupid Texas and their laws! Utah is so easy compared to this crap!

I also discovered this video this month.

Well there's February for ya
