I just finished The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor. It was not my usual kind of book, but I ended up really enjoying it. It is a different take on the Wonderland story line- but I liked this one more than most of the others I have seen.
ReplyDeleteThe Prydain series by Lloyd Alexander is pretty fantastic if you like fantasy/ LOTR kind of books.
I LOVE The Time Traveller's Wife, but there is kind of a sketchy scene in the book. If you want to read the AMAZING story, but want to skip the grody part, let me know and I can tell you what pages to avoid.
I have heard that The Help is really good, but I haven't read it yet. It is on my list to check out from the library.
The Books of Bayern by Shannon Hale is kind of a fun series, and it is always nice to support Mormon writers who put out good quality stuff. In all honesty, I think she needed some more editing as some scenes drag on a bit and some of her characters get a little shallow near the end like she was trying to hurry to meet a deadline. I still enjoyed it lots, though.
I coud list more in different genres if none of these appealed to you. I like books. :)
I really liked Austenland by Shannon Hale. I might have to see if i can get something from the library here of hers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Amanda!
Have you read that Potato pie book that I gave you for Christmas? I only thought of it because I saw it on Lizzie's desk today at school. I would recommend that one...or...if you are in an wizarding mood, I would recommend two books.
ReplyDelete1. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norril, it is a little long at parts, but super entertaining.
2. Or the Bartemeus Trilogy, and yes, I like it more than Harry Potter...gasp!
Have you read the Host, by Stephenie Meyer. That was fun. I also want to read Stolen, by Lucy Christopher. I liked the Work and the Glory. I just finished those last month for the first time- even though they're years old. Arianna Series by Rachel Nunes.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone!! You are AWESOME!! Lots of choices now :) If you think of more let me know.
